Terms of Use

Effective date: 27 July 2026

These Terms govern the StringPitch website and browser application at stringpitch.app. The operator, digital-service provider and licensor is Ing. Marek Hrdina, Ph.D., a sole trader established at Hředle 153, 267 51 Hředle, Czech Republic, Business ID (IČO) 29698642 (“StringPitch”, “we”, “us”). Contact: support@stringpitch.app. For Premium subscriptions and Lifetime purchases completed through Stripe Managed Payments, Link is the merchant of record and seller for the payment transaction under the checkout terms presented by Link; StringPitch remains responsible for operating, licensing and supporting the digital service. Voluntary Donate payments are separate standard Stripe payments to StringPitch and are not Managed Payments purchases.

1. Scope, acceptance and ability to contract

By using StringPitch, creating an account, purchasing access or making a donation, you agree to these Terms. Free local features may be used by musicians of any age under appropriate supervision. A person purchasing a subscription or lifetime access or making a donation must be at least 18 years old or act with valid authorization from a parent, legal guardian or other person legally entitled to authorize the payment. Rules on a minor’s ability to create an account or consent to data processing also depend on the law where the user lives.

Schools, parents and guardians remain responsible for choosing an appropriate device, account and purchasing arrangement for a child. An account must not be created or a purchase made by misrepresenting age or authority.

2. Current product and technical requirements

The currently released product is the web application. It provides Pitch a String, String Intervals, Play a Note, Tuner and Chord Builder functions, together with settings, statistics, accounts, trial and paid-access features. A compatible browser, internet connection for account and billing functions, audio output and, for microphone functions, a compatible microphone and permission are required.

A mobile version is in development but is not currently offered in an app store. Store-specific billing, cancellation and license terms will be added before a native release. The web service may be accessed where lawful and technically available; sanctions, provider availability, language, currency, browser support or local law may limit availability.

3. Music and microphone functions

StringPitch is a music-practice and tuning aid. Pitch estimates depend on microphone and device quality, browser audio behavior, ambient noise, instrument condition, playing technique and the selected A4 calibration. It is not a safety-critical measuring instrument and does not guarantee examination, performance, repair or professional tuning outcomes. Use safe listening levels.

4. Accounts and security

You must provide accurate account information, protect your credentials and notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized access. We may temporarily restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, prevent abuse, comply with law or investigate a material breach. We will not remove mandatory consumer rights by suspending an account.

Account deletion instructions are on the Data Deletion page. Deleting an account and canceling or withdrawing from a paid contract are separate actions.

5. Free functions, trial and discounts

Registered users may receive five hours of active gameplay trial time. The timer runs only in the three practice games while the app is active and focused; it does not run in menus, Settings, Statistics, Subscription, Tuner or Chord Builder. The trial offer is 50% while at least 2.5 hours remain and 25% below that threshold until the trial expires. After expiry, Easy Pitch a String, Tuner and Chord Builder remain available without paid access.

Trial eligibility is account-based. We may use proportionate anti-abuse controls to prevent repeated first-time trials. A user who believes an automated trial or entitlement decision is wrong may request manual review at support@stringpitch.app.

6. Plans, included updates and lifetime access

The intended web-pilot list prices are €2 per month, €20 per year and €50 for lifetime access. Monthly and yearly plans renew for the stated period until canceled. While paid access is active, it includes all updates, improvements and additional functions made generally available inside the StringPitch application under the same Premium product. It does not automatically include a separate future product that is not part of StringPitch.

Lifetime access is a one-time, non-renewing right to use the Premium functions of the StringPitch product, including future functions added inside StringPitch, for as long as the StringPitch product or a substantially equivalent successor service continues to be operated. “Lifetime” refers to the commercial lifetime of the product and service, not the lifetime of the purchaser or operator. If the StringPitch service is permanently discontinued, the service and lifetime access end, subject always to any refund, conformity or other remedy required by mandatory law.

7. Prices, taxes and Stripe

Prices shown for Premium are final consumer prices. In a Managed Payments checkout, Link acts as merchant of record, determines and collects applicable transaction taxes, issues the transaction receipt or invoice and remits the relevant indirect taxes. The checkout confirms the final amount, currency, discount, plan and renewal period before the customer places the order. A bank or card issuer may separately apply a currency-conversion or payment charge outside StringPitch’s control.

Stripe and Link receive and process payment, billing-address, tax-location, fraud-prevention and transaction-support data under their own terms and privacy notices; StringPitch does not store full card numbers. StringPitch receives the provider identifiers and payment status needed to provision and support Premium. Managed Payments does not transfer responsibility for the operation, conformity, licensing or technical support of StringPitch to Link.

8. Voluntary donations

Donate is available to signed-in Free, trial, monthly, yearly and Lifetime accounts. You may choose a custom EUR amount between €1 and €10,000 or one of these symbolic levels: Flatpick (€1), Songbook (€5), Guitar Strings (€10), Guitar Case (€100), Double Bass Strings (€250), Guitar (€500) or Double Bass (€2,500). The amount and currency are shown again in Stripe before confirmation.

A donation does not activate, start, extend or upgrade Premium or any subscription. It is a voluntary contribution to support StringPitch and is not payment for digital access. The pictured or named item is symbolic; no flatpick, book, strings, instrument or other physical item is supplied. Donations do not renew automatically.

Choosing an amount or pressing Continue to Stripe does not itself transfer money. Donate uses standard Stripe payment processing, not Managed Payments: StringPitch is the recipient of the contribution and Stripe processes the payment. A donation is made only when the donor uses Stripe’s final payment button and Stripe confirms successful payment. StringPitch records the verified amount and any refund in the account’s payment ledger. Contact support promptly about an accidental, duplicate or unauthorized payment. Refunds are assessed reasonably in the circumstances and processed where agreed or required by mandatory law; deleting an account does not itself request or create a refund.

StringPitch is not represented as a charity or tax-exempt organization. A donation receipt or account total is not a charitable tax certificate, and no promise is made that a contribution is tax-deductible. Donors should obtain their own tax advice where relevant.

9. How the paid-access contract is formed

Selecting a plan inside StringPitch only opens Stripe Checkout and does not itself create a payment obligation. In Stripe, the customer can review and correct the plan, price, billing period, renewal information and payment details before using Stripe’s final button that expressly confirms the obligation to pay.

For Premium, the payment transaction is concluded with Link as merchant of record when the Managed Payments checkout confirms successful payment or another status that the checkout expressly identifies as completing the order. The customer also receives a licence and digital service from StringPitch under these Terms. StringPitch activates the corresponding entitlement only from the verified provider result; entitlement activation is not a second order button. If checkout is not completed, no Premium purchase is formed. The contract language used by StringPitch is English.

Link normally provides the transaction receipt, invoice and payment communications on a durable medium. StringPitch separately retains the accepted document versions, consent timestamp and verified provider references and sends or makes available any confirmation for which StringPitch remains responsible, including the applicable Terms, withdrawal information and recorded request for immediate performance. A copy may also be requested from support.

10. Immediate performance and 14-day withdrawal

Where mandatory consumer law provides a right to withdraw from a distance contract, the standard period is normally 14 days from conclusion of the service contract. Paid access normally begins as soon as payment and entitlement verification complete. Before checkout, the customer is asked to expressly request that StringPitch begin providing the digital service before the withdrawal period expires.

If a consumer withdraws after expressly requesting immediate performance, the consumer may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service supplied before withdrawal where applicable law permits. A right may be excluded or lost only where all statutory conditions for that result are actually satisfied. Nothing in these Terms waives a right that mandatory law preserves.

Where StringPitch’s trusted billing records confirm that online withdrawal is currently available for an order, the Subscription screen displays an online Withdraw from the contract function and the applicable deadline. The final confirmation button sends an unequivocal withdrawal statement. StringPitch will send a durable confirmation containing the statement, date and time and information about the resulting refund or proportionate amount. A missing or incorrect eligibility indicator in the interface does not remove a statutory right; the consumer may also contact support or use the model notice below.

11. Cancellation of renewal, withdrawal and refunds

Canceling renewal and withdrawing from the contract are different actions:

  • Cancel next renewal: no further recurring charge is collected, and Premium access normally remains active until the end of the already paid monthly or yearly period. This action does not itself request a refund.
  • Withdraw from the contract: available only while a statutory withdrawal right applies. It may end access immediately and may result in a refund or a proportionate charge under applicable law.

A web customer whose billing record still represents a recurring monthly or yearly contract can open Account → Subscription → Cancel subscription. The interface offers the legally relevant choices confirmed by StringPitch’s billing records. A cancellation scheduled for period end is recorded in the entitlement and confirmed in the interface. Lifetime access does not renew and therefore has no renewal-cancellation action, but an eligible lifetime purchase may still display the separate withdrawal function.

Deleting the StringPitch account does not substitute for canceling a Stripe subscription or submitting a withdrawal statement. To prevent an orphaned recurring charge, StringPitch refuses permanent account deletion while its trusted billing records show that a monthly or yearly provider contract can still renew. The customer must first stop the next renewal, complete an available withdrawal, or otherwise resolve the recurring contract. After renewal has been canceled, account deletion may end access before the already paid period expires and does not itself create a refund for unused time unless mandatory law requires one. Refunds outside a statutory withdrawal or conformity remedy are discretionary unless required by law.

Model withdrawal notice

Complete and send the following only if a statutory withdrawal right still applies: “To Ing. Marek Hrdina, Ph.D., Hředle 153, 267 51 Hředle, Czech Republic, support@stringpitch.app: I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the following StringPitch digital service: [plan/order]. Ordered on: [date]. Consumer name: [name]. Consumer address: [address]. Account email or Stripe receipt reference: [reference]. Date: [date]. Signature: [only if sent on paper].” This exact wording is not mandatory; any unequivocal statement containing enough information to identify the contract is sufficient.

12. Digital-service conformity, updates and remedies

StringPitch will provide the digital service in conformity with the contract, its description and the functionality and compatibility reasonably expected from the information supplied before purchase. Necessary functional and security updates will be provided for the period required by the contract and mandatory law.

If the paid digital service is defective, unavailable or materially different from the contract, the consumer may have the right to require conformity, receive a proportionate price reduction, terminate the contract or obtain a refund under applicable law. Contact support with the account email, device/browser details, date and a description of the issue. These remedies are separate from voluntary refunds and from the 14-day withdrawal right.

13. Changes to the service and prices

We may make reasonable changes for security, legal compliance, compatibility, performance, accessibility, abuse prevention, provider changes or product improvement. Changes will not impose an additional charge during an already paid period without the customer’s agreement. Where a change materially and negatively affects access or use beyond what the contract permits, we will provide advance information and any termination, refund or other remedy required by mandatory law.

New prices apply only to a new purchase or a future renewal after the notice required by law and provider rules. Canceling before the affected renewal prevents that renewal.

14. Availability and discontinuation

We aim for reliable operation but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability during maintenance, provider incidents, network outages, browser changes or events outside reasonable control. We may discontinue StringPitch for a legitimate business, technical or legal reason. In that event, recurring renewal will stop and advance notice will be given where reasonably possible. Any unused prepaid period, lifetime-access claim or other consequence will be handled in accordance with the contract and mandatory consumer law.

15. License and intellectual property

StringPitch is proprietary software. Subject to these Terms and valid access, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the released app for personal, educational or internal professional music practice. Copyright in the original StringPitch code, design, graphics and text is held by Ing. Marek Hrdina, Ph.D. unless stated otherwise. Third-party fonts, samples, libraries and services remain governed by their respective licenses.

You may not sell, sublicense, redistribute, copy substantial parts of, remove notices from, attack or circumvent access controls in StringPitch, except to the extent a mandatory law expressly permits an act that cannot be restricted by contract.

16. Feedback and user submissions

You retain rights in feedback you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right to use suggestions and ideas to operate, maintain and improve StringPitch, without an obligation to implement or compensate for them. Do not submit confidential third-party information, unlawful material or content you are not entitled to share.

17. Acceptable use

Do not interfere with authentication, trial, billing, feedback or synchronization systems; create fraudulent entitlements; introduce malware; overload or scrape the service abusively; infringe rights; or use StringPitch unlawfully. Reasonable security testing requires prior written authorization.

18. Warranty and liability

StringPitch is supplied with all statutory rights that cannot be excluded. Beyond those rights, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, it is provided “as is” and “as available”. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for intent, gross negligence, personal injury or another liability that cannot legally be excluded, or limits a consumer remedy that mandatory law provides.

19. Complaints and dispute resolution

Send complaints to support@stringpitch.app. Include the account email, order reference and requested remedy, but never send a password or full card details. We will try to resolve the complaint directly.

Czech consumers may also seek out-of-court dispute resolution from the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce), Štěpánská 796/44, 110 00 Prague 1, Czech Republic, coi.gov.cz. Mandatory dispute-resolution rights in another country remain unaffected. The former EU Online Dispute Resolution platform is no longer used.

20. Governing law and severability

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, subject to mandatory consumer-protection rules that may apply in your country of residence. A mandatory consumer rule or competent forum available in the consumer’s country is not excluded. If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply and the invalid provision is interpreted as closely as lawfully possible to its intended purpose.

21. Changes to these Terms and contact

We may update these Terms for product, provider or legal changes. The effective date and document version will be updated. Material changes affecting an existing paid agreement will be communicated on a durable medium where required and will not retroactively remove accrued rights.
